India vs Pakistan Live Stream
India-Pakistan contest again after the damp squib on Wednesday? After all, the last four games between these sides have turned out to be an eight-wicket win, a 180-run win, a 124-run win and a 76-run win. The build-up to all of those would have been frenzied, only for one-sided affairs to end up making a mockery of the publicity that preceded them.It seems prudent, therefore, to approach this game with a pinch of caution. With the group-stage game between these two sides truly living up to its billing as a dead rubber, there is no reason to presume this one will turn out to be the thriller fans of this iconic rivalry fantasise about each time these two countries do battle.India look like the settled behemoth they usually are in limited-overs cricket, and, with one game, the dark memories of the Champions Trophy final have receded firmly into distant history. Wednesday’s game was the affirmation they needed to be convinced they had finally turned the tables on a rivalry Pakistan have dominated for much of these countries’ histories. The Oval in 2017, they may now feel confident, was truly an aberration, and Dubai last week a regression to the mean. The new status-quo.n their previous match-up, Pakistan were far from at their best. Their batsmen, apart from Babar Azam and Shoaib Malik to an extent, crumbled all too easily, and they were bundled for 162. Then, once Rohit Sharma, the India captain, was allowed to settle in, there was only going to be one outcome.A batting effort more representative of Pakistan’s capabilities was on display in their next match against Afghanistan, where all of Imam-ul-Haq, Azam and Malik scored half-centuries to power them in a nervy chase – they won by three wickets, negating the threat of Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman.(On his performance) Always need initial wickets to get any team to a low total. It was a great bowling effort. Great to see Jadhav step up in the absence of Hardik Pandya. Great team effort. (On adjusting to UAE pitches) On a track where the ball doesn’t swing, that’s the only thing you can do. It’s important to bowl back of a length and try to hit the stumps, give yourselves a chance. Key is not to give too many runs and force the batsmen to make mistakes. That’s the best way to get them out. (On the extreme conditions) It’s tough and hot, also the tracks are flat and not easy for the bowlers. Perhaps due to the heat, Hardik got injured as he was playing in England and couldn’t adjust to the different conditions here. Not easy for the bowlers.Asia Cup. The game was touted to be a blockbuster, didn’t quite turn out that way but not to worry. These two sides will be playing each other again on Sunday in the Super Four stage. Pakistan will be seething for revenge and hopefully we get a more intense contest then. There are more games before that one though with Bangladesh facing Afghanistan tomorrow. Another inconsequential game as both sides have qualified and with the seedings predecided, the spots have also been fixed. Nevertheless, both sides will want to enter the next stage on a winning note. Do join us for that one. Until then, this is Hariprasad Sadanandan signing off from the commentary box on behalf of my mates Nikhil Jadhav, Vineet Anantharaman, Kumar Abhisekh Das, MS Ramakrishnan, Sagar Chawla and our scorer Mukesh. Cheers and goodnight!that will be expected this time around against India, especially with Mickey Arthur, Pakistan’s coach, not hiding his disappointment with the way his batsmen succumbed in their earlier encounter – “we sort of batted outside our roles, which was very disappointing,” he had said. The real point of concern for Pakistan is fatigue. That game against Afghanistan went down to the wire, which would have been exhausting both mentally and physically. Furthermore, that was played in Abu Dhabi, and they would have had to make the trip to Dubai the next day. India, meanwhile, have no such concerns, being based in Dubai. All in all, with the stakes – a spot in the tournament final – a lot higher, this one should be an engrossing contest.
