What Are The Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar?

Many people are interested in the healthy benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV). ACV is vinegar made from cider or apple must. The unpasteurized or organic ACV contains “The Mother” of vinegar, which is what you want to look for. “The Mother” sediments are strands of proteins, enzymes and friendly bacteria. We recommend Bragg Organic ACV with The ‘Mother.’ Here are some of the major health benefits of ACV:

ACV assists in killing many types of bacteria. It is anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-septic and kills 98% of all germs. It has even been shown to kill cancer cells in recent studies.

All the while killing off bacteria as it moves through the body it also promotes weight loss by making you feel full. It’s even used by helping the body flush out more fats and giving a person’s metabolism the boost it needs.

Adding to this boost, it will detoxify the body. It is full of vitamins, minerals and enzymes in its raw form. Raw ACV is what is recommended for all detox and cleansing. “The Mother” is the sediment left over from the fermentation process and the meat of the apples. This is why it is so effective in detoxifying your body.

It also lowers blood sugar levels and helps to fight diabetes. Certain diabetic medications are designed to block the digestion of sugars and starches. By blocking the digestion of these compounds, medications can effectively prevent blood sugar spikes, and can therefore help to regulate healthy blood sugar levels.

ACV may have the ability as some medications. It contains acetic acid which inhibits the activity of several digesting enzymes, including amylase, sucrose, maltase, and lactase. As a result, when vinegar is present in the intestines, some sugars and starches temporarily pass through without being digested, so they have less of an impact on blood sugar.

ACV helps lower blood pressure and reduces your risk of heart disease. When you use it for a high blood pressure remedy, you are most likely giving your entire body a boost, not just treating your blood pressure issues. It aids in better circulation and lowering pressure against the arterial walls by breaking down fat and phlegm deposits in the body. ACV releases free radicals that wreak havoc on your body on a daily basis.

There are many ways in which you can add ACV into your diet. It is recommended that you drink a small amount diluted with water before each meal, 3 times a day. 1-2 teaspoons, depending on what you can handle mixed with lemon and/or raw local honey helps with the taste. Or, you can add 1-2 tablespoons to equal parts water mixed with lemon and raw honey once a day. Some studies show that it also helps if a diabetic takes it before bedtime. You can also add it to your salad, raw veggies or any meals instead of drinking. ACV is acidic so don’t forget to take care of your teeth! Rinse or brush after taking the ACV to help protect your enamel.

Although there are many positive benefits, there can also be some negative side effects. Before starting an ACV diet, consult your physician and understand what ACV is.

Electronic Medical Records – Do They Help You?

There was a big push to go with electronic medical records. Our government placed deadlines on doctors and hospitals as to when this must be in place. They even offered incentive money to get this done. It all sounded good, doctors and hospitals would be able to see your medical records, with this information they would be able to treat your condition better.

Well like most things that the government forces upon us, no matter how well intentioned, it was not thought out very well. I will use myself as an example, over the past few years I have gone to a few doctors and to some hospitals for different tests. During the check in or check out process I was asked if I want to get login information to view my records. On all occasions I said yes. I then logged in, created an account and sure enough my records for that visit were there. One thing that I did notice, the medical record history was not correct, it needed to get corrected and cleaned up.

The problem is that it seemed that every doctor and hospital had different medical software. So I have about three or four different logins to different medical portals. Yes, I was able to see my information from that particular medical provider, but NO they were not connected. So if I logged into doctor A I could see those records, but I could see no records from doctor B.

So the failure, as it now stands, is the ability of the different medical software’s to communicate with each other. While most medical providers are using electronic medical records it appears that nothing much has changed, except the change from paper to electronic records. Going to electronic records could be the beginning of a good thing. It would facilitate integrating all of the different medical software latter. The government should go back and set a date that all medical software should be integrated, then back off and let business take care of it.

I recently got labs done before a doctor’s appointment, I went online and looked at the results. When I went to see me doctor I was better able to ask questions. This is the way medical care should be, a collaboration between you and your medical provider. So there are many good things about electronic medical records it just needs to be fully integrated to work properly.

Optimizing a Healthy Lifestyle

The human body is a highly evolved biological machine. Lifestyle plays a big role in optimizing your general health. It’s in your best interest to adopt a healthy one. I know it’s not easy to develop one; but, doing so can definitely do wonders to your body for the long haul. But, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to do walking, swimming, running and biking, even in your twilight years?

Consider how you think, eat, train, recuperate, plan, focus and more. It goes without saying that these core essentials of lifestyle alone could stand a level-up in each of our lives as persons, parents, professionals who may also be into the military, sports, creative pursuits on top of “life” itself.

In life, knowing that energy is everything and everything depends on this vital energy is essential. The thing is, the energy we’re talking about most of us have taken for granted for far too long because you can’t see it or touch it.

Nonetheless, you experience this, your primary source of energy, every minute of every day, and while you know when it’s depleted you often won’t know how depleted until you hit the wall-an athletic term to describe depleted energy. It’s your battery power, your body is the battery, and it’s easy to misinterpret how much power you have unless you are informed and skilled. It’s because we’re living with an underlying personal energy deficit that compromises human function and therefore your lifestyle which reinforces the vicious cycle.

If you think that energy is merely the result of what you eat and drink or how you think (psychology) and that you go to sleep merely because it’s dark, everyone else is doing it and your tired (but don’t know why), chances are you are living in a chronic state of energy deficit because you don’t value sleep enough or understand the profound impact it’s having on your life or the lack thereof.

The food you take in can either heal or harm. You make that choice every day by what you put on your mouth. Most of the food consumed by humans has been carbohydrates. In fact, plant foods are comprised mostly of carbohydrates: vegetables, fruits, beans, whole grains, nuts, seeds, herbs, and spices. These foods contain slowly released sources of sugar that prevent surges of blood sugar and insulin.

Too much insulin causes heart disease, diabetes, cancer, depression, and even dementia. Carbohydrates contain almost all the vitamins and minerals our bodies need to operate normally and optimally. They also contain fiber, which helps normalize our digestive function and slows the absorption of sugar and fats into the body, keeping us balanced. The bonuses in plant foods are phytonutrients, a colorful healing compounds made by plants to protect themselves, but that also protect us against aging, obesity, brain damage, and more.

Success breeds success. This is true if you optimize your lifestyle by tending your meals to reflect a troubled time of day when you’re pressed for time and squeezed for energy, and you come up with a solution, all of your mealtimes will transform.

7 Main Reasons to Drink More Water

“Water is the driving force of all nature” – Leonardo Da Vinci

Water, the liquid life. It makes up 60% of your body, 75% of your muscles and 85% of your brain. It’s the lubricant that is involved in nearly every chemical process that takes place inside your cells.

Water is clearly the most important nutrient for the human body, but we often take it for granted. Opting for soda, fruit juice, alcohol, coffee, or tea over boring old water. That’s likely the reason why 75% of Americans are suffering from chronic dehydration. There’s just so many other options!

Interestingly enough, even though water is so important for the body, there’s not much scientific research dedicated to learning more about water and how it affects human health. That’s because water is very cheap for most developed countries. Water’s health benefits don’t increase the bottom line of the giant pharmaceutical companies that usually fund health research. The few research articles that I did find were actually done by bottled water companies such as Evian, meaning that even this research may be slightly biased.

Nonetheless, water is a necessary and fundamental part of being healthy and it’s importance should not be underestimated. Making sure to drink the right type of water and plenty of it is crucial to achieving your health goals. Here are the 7 Main Reasons to Drink more water. Let’s dive in.

The 7 Main Reasons to Drink More Water

#1 – Water Helps You Lose Weight
Everyone wants to look good and be in shape. The EASIEST way to do that is to drink more water. Here are the two main ways that water can help you lose weight or maintain optimal weight.

Water Reduces Cravings
In the center of your brain, there is an area called the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus is responsible for regulating hormones in the body, controlling body temperature, and the sensations of hunger and thirst. Since your feelings of hunger and thirst are supplied from the same area of your brain, you may sometimes mistake your thirstiness for your desire to munch on something. That’s why if you get a craving for food, you should try drinking a glass of water and waiting 15 minutes. Most of the time the craving should go away and you reduce your calorie intake, which helps you lose weight.

Water Stimulates Your Metabolism (Burning of Calories)
Did you know that drinking water stimulates your metabolism and increases your calorie burn? Especially if you drink cold water. Drinking cold water forces your body to burn calories to warm up the water to body temperature. Really any water that you drink needs to be processed and transported to the rest of your body.

Research showed that in 14 healthy and in-shape individuals, drinking 500ml of water increased their metabolism by 30% in just 10 minutes. Another study showed that drinking 2 liters of water a day could increase calorie burn by up to 400 calories. A short-term study of overweight women showed that the women who drank more than 1 liter of water a day over 12 months, lost an extra 4lbs of weight without any other lifestyle changes.

Water needs to be processed and transported to be used by the body, which requires energy. More energy demand causes an increase in metabolic rate. Just by drinking more water you’ll burn more fat and get leaner. It’s like the best natural fat-loss product. A Zero-Calorie food!

#2 – Water Increases Your Mental and Physical Performance
Fatigue is one of the first signs of dehydration. Even if you lose just 1-2% of your body weight in water, it can impair physical and mental performance. That’s because everything that goes on in your body and brain requires water.

Physical Performance
If you exercise regularly, you need to hydrate even more than the normal sedentary human being. You lose water rapidly through your sweat and your breath when you exercise. It has been shown that athletes often lose 6-10% of their body weight in water during competition and intense training. Dehydration during training results in reduced endurance, increased fatigue, reduced motivation, and increased perceived effort. All of which negatively impacts performance.

The good news is that proper rehydration reverses all of these negative effects and even reduces oxidative stress caused by exercise and dehydration. Make sure to hydrate before, during, and after exercise to aid in recovery and maximize your performance. A solid workout with maximum effort also means more calories burned, resulting in a leaner and better you.

Mental Performance
Even just mild dehydration curbs cognitive functions such as concentration, alertness and short term memory in everyone including children (10-12 years), young adults (18-25 years) and (50-82 years). The brain is 85% water, so staying adequately hydrated is important to ensure proper functioning of your brain. In the morning, instead of going straight for coffee, try drinking 500ml of water as soon as you wake up. It will help kickstart your day and get you going faster. When that afternoon snooze starts creeping, try drowning it with water. Water, not coffee, is the key to sustained energy throughout the day.

#3 – Water Improves Your Skin Health
The skin is the largest organ of your body and contains 30% water, which contributes to the plumpness and elasticity of skin. Drinking more water can improve skin thickness and density, helping your skin look more youthful, smooth, and firm. Choosing water instead of inflammatory drinks such as sugary sodas, processed fruit juice, caramel macchiatos, and even milk will help you achieve clearer skin. These inflammatory drinks cause spikes in blood sugar which messes up your hormones and leads to unwanted breakouts. Be conscious of what you drink, especially for the sake of your skin.

#4 – Water Helps Detoxify your Body
There are so many toxins that you come into contact with everyday from processed food, household chemicals, environmental pollutants, etc. It’s your kidney’s job to filter out your blood and remove toxic waste. The kidneys depend on plenty of fluid available in your body so that even if you lose fluid through your urine, your body can function optimally. Give your kidneys adequate water, they can efficiently work and remove all the toxins from your blood. The more dehydrated you are, the harder your kidneys have to work to fit all the toxins into a small amount of urine. Leading to the darker and darker shades of yellow in your urine. The easiest way to make sure you’re getting enough water is to drink enough water until your urine is crystal clear. This will help your kidneys remove toxins from your body efficiently, and you will feel great!

#5 – Water Helps Minimize Joint Pain and Muscle Pain
Your joints are the hinges where two bones come together. Between your bones is a coating of cartilage which provides a cushion between the your bones to prevent friction.

Joints are like sponges. Wet sponges move easily against each other while hard sponges can rub and break off. Drinking plenty of water ensures that your sponges (cartilage) are hydrated and soft, minimizing joint discomfort. That’s what glucosamine and other joint supplements are designed to do, retain more moisture in your cartilage. You can do this naturally by drinking more water.

Muscle pain is a slightly different issue. If you work out or lift weights, there’s a build-up of lactic acid and microtears in your muscle fibers that cause pain. Drinking plenty of water flushes out the lactic acid, and transports nutrients to your muscles (assuming that you’re eating nutritious diet) that will help repair muscles quicker and reduce muscle pain. Drinking more water means faster and more efficient recovery.

#6 – Water Makes You Happier
The more water your drink, the better your mood will be. If your body is running efficiently on plenty of water, you’ll have more energy and be in a better mood. A study on 120 healthy female college students showed that the girls who drank more water on average had less tension, depression, and confusion.

Another study on 30 people who drank five cups of water a day showed that when the same people were asked to increase water intake to ten cups a day their mood, energy, and satisfaction all improved. DRINK MORE WATER, it will make you happier.

#7 – Water Helps You Digest and Poop
Your digestive tract is where everything goes to gain entrance into your body, including water. Keeping this area nice and moist is good for your digestion.

Water Aids Digestion
Everything that you eat lands in your stomach first and waits there to be broken down by stomach acid and digestive enzymes. The rate at which digested food then moves into your intestines from your stomach is mostly determined by the volume of food & fluid that is in the stomach at the time. After your stomach breaks down the food, it empties into the small intestine, where most of the nutrients and water are absorbed. The more water that is available, the better the absorption.

However, there’s a constant debate among health professionals on whether or not drinking water with meals positively or negatively affects digestion. On one hand, it’s theorized that drinking water during meals dilutes your stomach acid and enzymes leading to poor breakdown of nutrients and causes limited absorption. On the other hand, drinking water is said to aid in moving food through your digestive tract quickly and smoothly.

So in order to cover both sides of the argument, here’s the best way to drink water for proper digestion.

Drink plenty of water throughout the day so you don’t have to gulp down water right before you eat.
Take small sips of water (preferably room temperature or warm) during meals.
Make sure to beginning hydrating again 30 minutes after your meal to give time for your body to digest the food you ate.
Water Relieves Constipation
Constipation is caused by dehydration in your colon. After water and nutrients from your food gets absorbed in your small intestines, it moves into your large intestine also known as the colon. Your colon is where extra water is added or removed to produce stool. More water means smoother stool while less water means firmer stool. If you are dehydrated, your colon will absorb more water from your stool, leading to constipation. Women and older adults especially struggle with constipation because they do not drink enough water, and/or drink coffee/tea instead of water.
A study of 3,835 Japanese women from the ages of 18-20 showed that low intake of water was directly associated with increased instances of constipation. Similarly, in elderly people, low fluid intake was found to be the direct cause of constipation.

Constipation is a very serious health issue. Continued constipation means you’re not eliminating toxic waste from your body, and most of those toxins get reabsorbed. Leading to bad skin, fatigue, and overall poor health. Drink plenty of water to reduce constipation and live a healthier life.

The Natural Remedial Measures by Ayurveda to Control Acidity

Acidity is a problem that affects people all over the world, irrespective of their age. It is caused by the excess or imbalance of digestive acids produced by the stomach which may lead to stomach ache, gas, nausea and even bad breath. In today’s world, where junk food is quickly taking over the Indian markets, the problem of acidity is gradually becoming more and more persistent. Eating too much spicy food, lack of exercise, irregular eating habits, stress, drinking alcohol and the disturbed routine that we follow, these all can lead to acidity problems. Though the problem is curable, but owing to our little efforts in curing it, it tends to create health ailments that are difficult to cope up with. What Suboxone Treatment Can Do To Transform Your Life

Suboxone is an effective and very powerful drug that is given to people who require opioid therapy. This drug basically reverses opioid overdoses by keeping it off the receptors, thus preventing its negative effects such as respiratory depression. It is usually taken under the tongue so it does not interfere with other drugs that could be in use. It contains naloxone, which prevents the individuals on therapy from dissolving suboxone and probably injecting it. Even though the correct way of using suboxone is to inject, it can lead to withdrawal symptoms, hence the reason why it is administered under the tongue.

This drug can transform the lives of opioid addicts because it decreases the cravings and also relieves the withdrawal symptoms. When the treatment is done correctly, it is possible to gain control of the addiction without any fear of withdrawal symptoms or the temptations to relapse because of the cravings. Considering that the drug is offered discreetly from a doctor’s office, addicts enjoy lots of privacy and confidentiality as they go through the treatment process. Because with this drug here is no need for hospitalization, those under treatment can continue their usual lives working or with friends and family.

The Effectiveness

Suboxone has buprenorphine as the main active ingredient and it has been extensively studied to find out just how effective it can be especially when it comes to opiate addiction. The drug can help change the lives of opioid addicts because it has been proven to be effective in:

· Reducing the opioid cravings

· Suppressing opioid withdrawal symptoms

· Blocking opioid effects

· Helping the patients go through with the treatment

· Reducing the illicit use of opioid

But for these benefits to be enjoyed, it is important for the patients to also get counseling along with the treatment. The counselling goes a long way in giving skills to the patients to avoid the triggers or situations that can lead to a relapse. Qualified suboxone doctors know exactly how to handle the treatment to ensure it is most effective in the end. These doctors can also address issues that contribute to the use of opioids such as anxiety, depression and other possible psychiatric conditions.

Considering that suboxone can still be dangerous, it is important that it is administered by qualified doctors who specialize in opioid addictions. This is because they understand the mechanisms of the treatment and are best placed to offer guidance to patients and reap positive results at the end of the day. Unlike back in the days when it was hard to get access to the drug, there are suboxone doctors located in different parts and finding one near you is not as hard. Patients should therefore seek treatment to start dealing with the addiction.

Your doctor will help with treatment timing and the appropriate doses and it is important for the directions of use to be followed to the letter for effectiveness purposes. There may be withdrawal symptoms when the treatment is stopped, but they are generally very mild and easy to manage when under the supervision of a doctor.

4 Pre-Emptive Strikes for Optimal Health

What would people do if they thought they were going to be attacked by aliens? Build shelters underground? Go into hiding? Good ideas! Your body reacts in much the same way you would to naturally protect you from aliens. In this case, the aliens are pollution, infections of various kinds, and other adverse environmental conditions.

The “protective shelters” in the body are chemical reactions that fight the “alien” attackers, good thing! But an overabundance of these good chemicals can cause inflammation in the body which can lead to familiar conditions such as Alzheimer’s, Asthma, Cancer, Chronic Pain, Type 2 Diabetes, IBS, Heart Disease, Strokes, and more.

Solutions:

1. Eat to prevent – Anti-inflammatory foods – See below, including cooking ideas

2. Exercise Regularly, yes, that’s regularly – Make a date with yourself three times a week for at least an hour to get the minimal benefit. If you don’t see that happening soon, start imagining it. The more you visualize yourself having fun exercising, the sooner you’ll find time to do it.

3. Take Proteolytic Enzymes – Early a.m., before eating by about one-half hour, and late p.m., well after eating. This will clean up the blood in your system, according to many health and digestion experts, including any undigested proteins, many viruses, many bacteria, some chemicals, pollutants, etc.

4. Avoid (just keep the population down) red meats, cow-milk products, wheat, refined sugars, caffeine, processed foods, gluten when possible.

Anti-Inflammatory Foods include:

A. Healthy fats in place of trans-fats. For example, choose olive oil and omega-3 oils like fish oil and refrigerated flaxseed oil. Also Chia-seed oil and Macadamia Nut Oil if you want to get more exotic!

B. Fruits and Veggies – Yes, you’ve heard it all before ad-infinitum. Your goal is eight to ten servings a day. Secret: Kale Chips! Spinach and other green leafy veggies when cooked look like less, but still count for the one-half-cup serving if you are looking at them in their raw state. Use fruit sauce instead of maple syrup on pancakes and waffles, or unsweetened jams and preserves (health section of grocers or health store).

C. High Fiber – another chant you keep hearing… and yup, it’s true. The fruits and veggies will take care of this, too.

Recipe Ideas:

Think veggie-strips, such as zucchini, colorful bell peppers, onions, in place of pasta. Add mushrooms, olives, Italian sausage of choice or whatever you like! Mac and Cheese can be made fun with the same kinds of veggies to cut down on the starch. Think fruit in place of sugars for baking, or making sauces. Think almond meal for flour (health section or store) with just a bit of your other favorite flour thrown in to help it all hold together better. There are some cookbooks available to help you, labeled either gluten-free and low-glycemic or paleo or ketogenic that will give you lots of yummy ideas!

6 Signs You Should See A GI Doctor

Your digestive system consists of a lot of organs, such as liver, pancreas, colon, stomach and esophagus, just to name a few. Therefore, the symptoms of GI may be appear through any of the organs. When the symptoms show up, what you need to do is see a doctor right away. Given below are a few signs that you should get in touch with a doctor immediately.

Lump in your throat

If you can’t swallow food properly, it’s time to get your throat checked. This is more important if the feeling becomes intense. For instance, if you can’t even drink water without having a weird feeling in your throat, you have a serious problem. As a matter of fact, problem when drinking water may be a sign of GI problems.

Flatulence

It’s normal to pass gas. As a matter of fact, a normal person passes around two liters of gas in 24 hours. However, it is time to see a specialist if the flatulence is accompanied by other side effects, such as sudden weight gain, abdominal discomfort, change in bowl movements, or weight loss, to name a few.

Pants are too tight

If, all of a sudden, you are finding it hard to zip your pants, it may be bloating, not belly fat. This happens when your belly traps too much gas. This may not be a problem associated with swallowing a lot of air or eating a lot of food. Sudden bloating with symptoms, such as bloody stool or pain is a cause of concern. It may be a digestive problem that needs to be treated. Probably, you need to run some tests for IBS, GERD celiac disease, constipation or gallstones.

Pants are too loose

Unexplainable weight loss may also be a sign of a lot of health issues, but you may want to start your search for a cause from your digestive system. Often, gastroenterologists check patients for sudden weight loss that is almost impossible to explain. At this stage, it can’t be called the cancer of stomach, pancreas or colon.

Other conditions that may cause weight loss include Crohn’s disease or celiac disease. Actually, these diseases hamper the ability of your body to absorb nutrients.

Bowel movements are black

Your stool may appear black due to blood. As far as your rectum is concerned, bleeding is a serious problem. Hemorrhoids may be something that you can blame for this. Aside from this, the inflamed blood vessels in your rectum may also be bleeding, which is a cause of concern.

If you have hemorrhoids, your primary care physician may help you. However, if you have an ongoing bleeding, you should see a good GI doctor. As a matter of fact, if you have rectal bleeding from time to time, you should run the relevant tests as soon as possible.

Deficiency of iron

The red blood cells in your body help supply oxygen to the tissues of your body. If you have iron deficiency, your body will feel it. You will feel tired, and your skin may turn yellowish, your hair may start falling and your nails may become brittle. With a simple blood test, you can check if you have iron deficiency. You should see a good GI specialist if you are anemic. Anemia may be due to the chronic blood loss in your gastrointestinal tract due to IBS, stomach cancer, ulcers and colon cancer.

How to Identify Pure Honey?

So you thought the honey you consume on a daily basis was 100% pure? Think again, for there can be more to that bottle of honey than meets the eye.
Making tall claims about the purity of honey in television and prints ads is one thing and what the customer gets sold is a different ball game all together. Many a times, as misinformed customers, we do end up buying the truth the companies want us to believe in only to discover much later that it was all nothing but honey coated lies.

So is there a way one can know the difference between pure honey and an adulterated one? Without checking the purity of honey, it can get slightly difficult to reach any conclusion. To determine the quality of honey, honey purity test can easily be conducted at home.

Raw honey vs fake honey

Not all honey are created equally. Raw honey is the most original and unadulterated form of honey produced by the bees from the concentrated nectar of the flowers. Collected straight from the source, it is totally unpasteurized, unheated and unprocessed. The nectar collected from the bees goes through three levels of processing before it reaches the end user.

The first stage entails processing in which the enzymes are injected into the honey to thicken it. The process also aids in fermentation of the nectar. Once the honey has fermented, it is further processed to add more thickness to its consistency. In the third and the final step, water is extracted out of honey to make it lose 80% of its total water content, make it thick and add a deep, rich golden brown colour to it.

Fake honey, also known as adulterated impure or artificial honey, is the honey that has added sugar syrups, molasses, corn syrup, dextrose, and other flavours and additives. It might be good to look at, but has all its nutrients and nutritional value sucked out of it during the manufacturing process.

Want to know how to check if honey is pure? By examining the physical qualities of honey, it is very easy to know whether it is pure or impure. Look out for these signs:
– Pure honey has a sweet aroma whereas fake honey smells sour or most of the times has no aroma
– One feels a mild burning sensation in the throat while consuming pure honey. But in case of fake honey no such thing happens
– Pure or raw honey never separates into layers. However, same is not the case with fake honey and one can always see formation of layers in it
– Raw honey might come packed with natural impurities like pollen, bee bread and micro-particles of wax, but they are edible and causes no harm. Fake honey on the other hand has no such impurities in it.
– Raw honey has a smoother texture as compared to fake hone that usually is on the rough side
– The consistency of raw honey is usually thick and it trickles down in a thin stream. Fake honey on the other hand is quite runny and immediately spreads along the surface

How to identify pure honey?
With a number of options available at the super market, one can easily get swayed by factors like price, packaging, brand etc., while choosing the right kind of honey. Sadly, there are lot of adulterated honey brands that are being sold at cheaper price in the name of naturally and organically produced honey. Therefore, it becomes important to note that most of the honey available isn’t exactly what the bees produce naturally but are factory made, chemical-laden versions of them.

If you wish to enjoy all the benefits of honey, you must keep factors like quality, health and trust in mind before choosing a brand. Yes, it is not an easy task to know that this or that is fake or real. But you will need tests to distinguish between the two since it has been found out that most of the products you see in stores are not really the organic product you are looking for.

Here are a few honey purity tests that you can easily conduct at home and get an answer to the eternal question of how to check purity of honey.
a) The thumb test:
– Dip your thumb in a jar of honey
– If the honey sticks to it and stays intact to your thumb, it means you have managed to get yourself pure honey.
-If it spills or spreads around, just too bad, for what you’ve gotten is a bottle of adulterated honey.

b) The water test:
– Fill a glass with water
– Add 1 tablespoon of honey into the glass
– Adulterated or artificial honey will dissolve in water and you will see it around the glass
– Pure honey, on the other hand will settle right at the bottom of your glass

c) The fire test:
– Take a dry matchstick
– Dip its tip right into the honey
– Strike the stick on the matchbox as if to light it
– If the honey is pure, the matchstick will light with ease
